Electronics Engineer

LOCATION - tokyo, japan

This job is to create embedded hardware for the next-generation of spacecraft and planetary rovers for ispace, inc. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge base for electronics design including board design for CPU modules, high speed signals for items such as memory modules, and some knowledge of RF engineering. The job includes all phases of design, from defining system architecture, to schematics and layout, to supporting small scale manufacturing and hardware debugging. Prior experience in high reliability industries such as automotive and aerospace is preferred. A desire to iterate designs quickly and interest in performing hands-on prototyping is a must. Experience in making prototype electronics using ordered PCBs and hand-soldering components and experience controlling manufacturing by a vendor is required.



  • Participate in product definition, specification and requirements phases
  • perform schematics and layout design for PCBs under guidance of senior engineers
  • prototyping of electronics including assembly and testing
  • controlling manufacture of electronics by an outside vendor
  • Support integration, troubleshooting and testing of electronics


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience
  • Design experience across a range of embedded platforms from deeply embedded (8/16-bit, limited memory, no RTOS) to embedded RTOS or Linux-based platforms
  • Experience with communication and networking protocols (I2C, SPI, RS-485, CAN, etc)
  • Comfortable with debuggers, logic analyzers and oscilloscopes


  • Experience programming in a Linux environment using C++ and/or python
  • Experience programming microcontrollers for real-time applications
