Companies Focused Lunar Infrastructure Related to Water Resources
TOKYO–December 4, 2025–ispace, inc. (ispace) (TOKYO: 9348), a global lunar exploration company, and Kurita Water Industries Ltd.(Kurita) have signed a strategic partnership agreement to create business opportunities focused on water resources and building supply infrastructure on the lunar surface in the future.
This memorandum of understanding further solidifies the strategic collaboration between the two companies, following the memorandum of understanding signed with ispace on Mar. 10, 2025, regarding payload transportation for Kurita’s future lunar water treatment demonstration test equipment, and the third-party allotment of new shares to Kurita announced on Oct. 6, 2025.
The partnership consists of multifaceted collaboration to establish the cislunar water resources industry. The includes demonstrating water resource utilization technologies on the lunar surface, conducting feasibility assessments, and planning payload integration for future commercial missions. Kurita’s advanced expertise in water treatment technology and water resource management as well as ispace’s experience in lunar exploration and transportation services, positions the partnership to establish sustainable water resource infrastructure in space.
The agreement includes three main collaboration areas:
● Strategic Business Models & Operational Strategies for Securing and Supplying Lunar Water Resources
ispace and Kurita will jointly develop strategic business models for infrastructure development to secure and supply water resources anticipated for usage on the lunar surface in the future. Additionally, ispace will consult with Kurita in identifying necessary equipment, formulating demonstration proposals, and establishing collaborations with relevant companies and research institutions.
● Payload Development and Validation for Lunar Water Technologies
Kurita will advance payload development such as water treatment, separation, and generation technology. ispace will provide evaluations of the feasibility and business viability of these developments and collaborate toward technical demonstration.
● Joint Planning for Lunar Demonstrations Utilizing ispace Lunar Landers
The companies agree to jointly plan lunar technical applications for payloads developed by Kurita during ispace’s future planned lunar missions. ispace is expected to support the demonstrations through payload transportation services and lunar data acquisition services.
Through this partnership, both companies agree to increasingly advance technical validations and business development to establish sustainable water resource infrastructure on the Moon.
